Man's body located in river, NSW

Police will prepare a brief for the information of the Coroner following the discovery of a man’s body in a river at Wagga Wagga.

About 3.40pm on Wednesday 28 December 2016, a 42-year-old man who was swimming in waters at Wagga Wagga Beach on the Murrumbidgee River, disappeared under the water, NSW Police say.

A search for the man was launched and about 2.45pm today, officers located the body of man and a crime scene was established.

Initial investigations suggest there were no suspicious circumstances involved.

The identity of the man has not been confirmed, but investigators believe it is the missing 42-year-old man.

Inquiries continue.
