Marine search and rescue, Whitsunday Islands

Police and emergency services have commenced a search for a man missing in the Whitsunday Islands since yesterday evening, Queensland Police say.

The 47-year-old man departed Cid Harbour on Whitsunday Island at about 8pm on June 14, intending to travel to Hamilton Island in a three-meter grey and white inflatable tender.

The man was reported missing at 10.30am today after failing to reach Hamilton Island.

A search of the area was commenced utilising Whitsunday Water Police, VMR, CQ Rescue Helicopter and staff from Hamilton Island.

Police are appealing to any members of the public in the area to be on the lookout for the man and to provide any relevant information to police.
