Masks compulsory at Council facilities

Tweed Shire Council

In accordance with the NSW Government Public Health Order, face masks are now compulsory at Council offices and facilities.

Restrictions apply to all facilities including the customer service counters at Council's Murwillumbah and Tweed Heads offices, Tweed Regional Aquatic Centres, Tweed Regional Museum, Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre and the Tweed JUNKtion tip shop.

Capacity limits are in place at these locations and people will need to check-in via the Service NSW QR code system. Council staff working in an indoor setting are also wearing masks in keeping with the order.

Over the weekend, the NSW Government extended stay-at-home orders across all of Greater Sydney including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Shellharbour and Wollongong, and introduced restrictions for all other parts of NSW - including the Tweed.

It is now compulsory to wear masks in all indoor non-residential settings, including workplaces, and at organised outdoor events. Visitors to households are limited to 5 guests and the one person per 4 square metre rule has also been re-introduced for all indoor and outdoor settings, including weddings and funerals.

Mayor of Tweed Shire Chris Cherry backed the restrictions, which are in place until 11.59pm on Friday 9 July.

"These measures have been introduced to stop the spread of COVID-19 and to protect residents from this evolving outbreak," Cr Cherry said.

"Everyone attending Council facilities needs to wear a mask and we remind people to practice social distancing, ensure good hygiene and please stay home if you feel unwell. We know the community will support each other through this challenging time and we appreciate your cooperation."
