Corangamite Shire businesses can learn some easy and effective ways to get more out of their online presence.

Local media experts GBM Technology will host a free, one-hour webinar on Friday 21 August, 10 am-11 am.

Glen Bernoth and Sara Napier of GBM Technology in Camperdown will share practical knowledge and tips on how to drive more online traffic to your website.

"A website is a great way to get your business online, particularly in the current climate," Mr Bernoth said.

"But there's little value in having a set-and-forget website.

"Keeping your content fresh and updated regularly, being creative and using social media posts to entice people to click into your site are really important."

Mr Bernoth said the webinar would look at fundamentals such as getting Google to work for your business.

"It's a snowball effect with Google," Mr Bernoth said.

The more hits you get, the harder Google works driving traffic to your website.

"The trick is being able to tap into those opportunities to start the ball rolling."

Corangamite Shire Manager Growth and Engagement Rory Neeson said more than 30 businesses had accessed the Shire's digital grants program in May.

"We had a really good response to the COVID-19 Stimulus Digital Grants Program," Mr Neeson said.

"Quite a few applicants received funding to develop a website for their business."

"This webinar is offered as follow-up support to these businesses, and to any other business across the Shire interested in some simple and effective tips to get their online presence working for them," he said.
