'May-tenance Month' Returns This May

Now in its third year, it's time to celebrate the pivotal role of aircraft maintenance engineers while also inspiring people to consider a career in aircraft mechanics.

This year's theme - 'The safety chain starts with you' - focuses on how every safe flight begins on the ground with the decisions, checks and actions taken during maintenance. When each link in that chain is strong - from certification to inspection and release to service - it helps ensure aircraft, and the people who rely on them, stay safe.

Throughout the month, we'll release a series of engaging online toolbox talks featuring our very own engineering experts focusing on:

  • certification and the meaning of the signature
  • independent inspections and functional checking
  • maintenance decision making under operational pressure
  • learning from maintenance occurrences.

We're also bringing back our exclusive social media competition for aircraft maintenance engineers (AMEs) and apprentices, with 3 Snap-on Tools vouchers worth $500 each up for grabs.

May-tenance Month is also a chance to showcase the diverse and rewarding career opportunities in the aircraft maintenance field. From the technical skill required to ensure aircraft safety, to the attention to detail that defines every task, we're highlighting what makes this profession so vital.

Stay tuned to our website and social media channels - and help spread the word to your friends, colleagues and industry contacts.
