Following a successful launch in May, Port Stephens Mayor Leah Anderson will continue her Monthly Mayor Meet Ups this June, offering locals more opportunities to connect, be heard, and share what matters most in their place.
The Monthly Mayor Meet Ups are a new initiative that complements the Community Catch Ups that launched in 2023, providing residents with even more informal opportunities to speak directly with the Mayor, Councillors, and Council staff.
Mayor Leah Anderson said the response to the first Monthly Mayor Meet Up in May received positive feedback from locals who welcomed the opportunity for a relaxed, one-on-one conversation.
"Those that visited really valued the relaxed environment, feeling comfortable enough to openly discuss local issues and ideas," Mayor Anderson said.
"It's not about formal presentations or big meetings – it's just about connecting, listening and genuinely being there for our community. I can't wait to connect with more people this month," she added.
The second Monthly Mayor Meet Up will be held on Monday 16 June 2025, from 12 noon to 1:45pm in Tanilba Bay and from 3:15 to 5:30pm in Mallabula, continuing a rolling schedule across the community.
The next Community Catch Up, which brings Councillors and Council staff to local events and public spaces, is scheduled for Saturday 14 June 2025, from 8am to 12 noon at the Medowie Markets.
Mayor Anderson said these ongoing conversations are a vital part of Council's approach to community engagement.
"Our community wants to be heard, and they deserve to be," Mayor Anderson said.
"Our aim with these initiatives is to meet you where you're at – whether it's at the park, library, or a weekend market.
"We're making sure everyone in Port Stephens has a voice and can be part of shaping the future of Port Stephens," she concluded.
