Mayor's Charity Gala Dinner a glitzy good cause

Glitz and glamour will be the flavour of the Mayor's Charity Gala Dinner that will this year raise money to support the Special Olympics Macarthur athletes and volunteers.

Tickets will go on sale in early June for the Hollywood themed, black tie event that will be held at Campbelltown Arts Centre in August.

Money raised will go directly to the Campbelltown-based organisation that is part of a global sporting community that provides training and competitions to people with an intellectual disability.

"I am a firm believer in the power of sport to support a cohesive community. Not only does it enable a healthy lifestyle but it unites people of different backgrounds and abilities for a common purpose and shared passion,'' said Mayor George Brticevic.

"All athletes from Campbelltown and the wider Macarthur region are deserving of an opportunity to participate in sport and have pathways for elite competition,'' Cr Brticevic said.

"With our support these athletes will be able to showcase our city and region beyond our borders,'' he said.

All funds raised from the gala dinner will help Special Olympics Macarthur provide uniforms for all athletes, equipment and portable storage to protect the equipment members need to train and compete with.

Local businesses can support the event through a range of sponsorship and support partner packages, and will be invited to a special pre-event reception.

The dinner will be held at 7pm, Saturday 3 August at Campbelltown Arts Centre.

Tickets include a three-course dinner, drinks, entertainment, live music and cost $150 per person or $1400 per table of 10.

Should you be unable to attend the event, but are looking to support the athletes and volunteers at Special Olympics Macarthur, donations of money, in-kind support, raffle prizes or gifts are most welcome.
