Mayor's statement: Preparing for Coronavirus

In our community, the unfolding story of the Coronavirus is concerning us all.

Some important decisions are being made by our leaders, based on the advice from professionals, in regards to our community health and safety.

We may be inconvenienced in the short term, but we need to take a community long-term view and respect the decisions being made.

My advice for all our individuals and families is to:

  • Stay informed of what is happening
  • Be aware of the effect that 'saturation' of the media stories can have on you and your family, particularly young children
  • There will things that we can't do, make the most of the things we can do
  • The advice from health professionals should also be heeded
  • Make sensible decisions and take responsibility for your family
  • If you have concerns and worries, share them with people you trust
  • Be a good friend and assist others if you can.

Our community has faced testing times before. Together we can work through this and come out the other side.
