"Once cleared I will be back in business but in the meantime I am in regular contact with Council staff around the issues of the day."

Cr Hamling urged residents to follow the advice provided by NSW Health.

"If you show symptoms get tested and stay home. If you test positive you need to isolate. We all have a role in limiting the spread," Cr Hamling said.

During the isolation period when there is a requirement for the Mayor's presence at an event or function an alternative will be nominated.

"On the upside I get to have a quiet 51st birthday at home," Cr Hamling quipped.
