Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit have charged a man following a fatal crash in Dandenong South last week.
The 21-year-old driver was interviewed on Monday and charged with culpable driving and dangerous driving causing death.
The charges follow a single vehicle crash on the South Gippsland Highway on Friday 26 June about 1.50am.
One of the passengers, a 21-year-old man from Cranbourne, died at the scene.
The other passenger, a 20-year-old man from Narre Warren South, was taken to hospital at the time with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Cranbourne West man has been bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Friday 3 July.
