Logan City Council's transformation of Meadowbrook into a leading health, education and employment precinct continues, with construction underway to revitalise an under-used area.
The Armstrong Place West project, adjacent to Loganlea Road, will be a welcoming public space that improves connectivity and encourages active transport.
Mayor Jon Raven said the project aims to create a more people-focused Meadowbrook.
"Logan is growing and changing quickly. Precinct transformations help shape the kind of city we want for the future," Mayor Raven said.
"Projects like Armstrong Place East and the Loganlea Road Healthy Street Project are already well loved by locals.
"Armstrong Place West is the next step in Meadowbrook's transformation."
The upgrade is being delivered by Council through the $41.2 million Loganlea Meadowbrook Infrastructure Program under the South-East Queensland City Deal, with $21.6 million from the Queensland Government, $18.4 million from the Australian Government and $1.2 million from Council.
The broader program includes a pipeline of projects helping shape Meadowbrook as a major destination for health, education and employment.
Once complete, Armstrong Place West will feature:
- new pedestrian pathways
- improved accessibility and connectivity
- seating and sheltered gathering areas
- gardens and landscape improvements
- signage
- lighting upgrades
- a dry creek bed feature.
"There's a lot changing here," Mayor Raven said.
"Major rail and hospital upgrades are underway, and Council is making sure Meadowbrook works better for residents, workers, students and visitors to our city."
Federal Member for Forde Rowan Holzberger MP said infrastructure must keep pace as Logan grows.
"The Albanese Labor Government is committed to Logan getting its fair share," Mr Holzberger said.
"The Armstrong Place West project will revitalise an underutilised part of Meadowbrook, improve accessibility and encourage active transport in Logan.
"Combined with the relocation of Loganlea Station, this is another step closer to a better-connected Meadowbrook"
The South East Queensland City Deal is a collaborative partnership between the Australian Government, Queensland Government and Council of Mayors (SEQ), working together to deliver long-term economic, social and environmental benefits across South East Queensland.
