Melbourne To Host 2025 National Para Football Championships

Australia's top para footballers are set to congregate in Victoria this December as Melbourne hosts the 21st edition of the National Para Football Championships.

From 8-12 December 2025, the Home of the Matildas will be the venue for this prestigious event as players look to earn bragging rights as well as impress the CommBank ParaMatildas and CommBank Pararoos' coaching staff.

The tournament will feature teams from six Member Federations. Football NSW will be looking to secure their 17th successive tournament victory while Northern NSW Football, Football Queensland, Football South Australia, Football Victoria, and Football West will be looking to break their unprecedented winning streak.

Both male and female athletes will showcase their talents in this mixed-gender competition.

For over two decades the National Para Football Championships has served as a stage for talent identification in Australia's para football pathway and has launched the careers of many prominent CommBank Pararoos and CommBank ParaMatildas.

Quotes attributable to Interim Chief Executive Officer, Heather Garriock:

"Football is a game for everyone, and the National Para Football Championships are a shining example of that. The legacy of this event extends beyond the pitch, inspiring the next generation and demonstrating the power of football to connect communities."

"This tournament has been the launching pad for so many of our ParaMatildas and Pararoos. For young athletes, it's not just about representing their State or Territory - it's about putting themselves forward for national team selection and showing what they can do on the big stage."

"We are delighted to bring the Championships to the Home of the Matildas in Melbourne. Hosting the nation's top para footballers at such a world-class venue not only provides the athletes with a first-class stage to perform but also highlights the inclusive nature of our game."

Quotes attributable to CommBank Pararoos Head Coach, Kai Lammert:

"The National Para Football Championships are the highlight of the year for so many of these players. It's where they get to test themselves against the best in the country, push their limits, and put their hand up for national team selection."

"For us as coaches, this tournament is crucial. It's a chance to identify emerging talent, but also to see how returning players have developed since the last Championships. It gives us a clear picture of the depth and future of the CommBank Pararoos."

"Beyond selections, the Championships give players the opportunity to be part of something bigger - to represent their state, to connect with peers who share their passion, and to experience the pathway that leads all the way to the green and gold."
