The Tasmanian Government has today put out a call for new members to champion the rights and interests of people with disability in Government decision making.
Up to six new members are sought for the Premier’s Disability Advisory Council. Expressions of interest for membership of the Premier’s Disability Advisory Council have opened and have been advertised in newspapers today.
If you are a person with disability, a carer, family member or someone with a demonstrated interest in disability issues, you are invited to express interest in becoming a member of the Council.
Chaired by the Premier, the Council consists of 11 community members who play a key role in monitoring implementation of Accessible Island: Tasmania’s Disability Framework for Action 2018-2021 and the Disability Justice Plan for Tasmania 2017-2020.
The Council provides a crucial link between Tasmanians with disability and the Tasmanian Government, with members giving advice on a wide range of access and inclusion issues across the State Government.
The Council values diversity amongst its members and people with a range of backgrounds, skills and experience are encouraged to apply. To ensure regional representation, people from the North and North West are strongly encouraged to apply.
