Mental Health Week Focuses on Wellbeing, Connection

Tasmanian Government

This year Mental Health Week will run from 3 to 11 October 2026, with World Mental Health Day being celebrated on 10 October.

Mental Health Week brings focus to the importance of positive mental health and wellbeing for all Tasmanians and acknowledges the vital contributions of individuals, families, carers, advocates, service providers and communities who support mental health every day.

The Tasmanian Government is supporting the Mental Health Week program and the work of the Mental Health Council of Tasmania, helping communities across the State deliver events during Mental Health Week through a Small Grants program.

Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, said Mental Health Week is an important opportunity to reflect on the small things people can do to support their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of those around them.

"Mental health is something that touches all of us, and Mental Health Week is an important opportunity to check in with ourselves, our friends, our families, and our communities," Minister Archer said.

"This year's theme is 'Appreciate the little things', which encourages Tasmanians to recognise the everyday moments that can make a difference to our wellbeing."

Communities across the State will host all kinds of activities such as walks, workshops, exhibitions, expos, and family events throughout the week. The full program is available here: Mental Health Week - Mental Health Council of Tasmania

The Tasmanian Government is building an even better mental health system through ongoing reform, major infrastructure investments including Mental Health Precincts in each region, innovative service improvements like Mental Health Emergency Response, and close collaboration with people with lived experience.

Through our long-term plan for mental health, Rethink 2020, our government is transforming Tasmania's mental health system so people can get more holistic support, in the right place, at the right time – with over $648 million invested since 2014.
