Mental Health Week: Stronger Together

Mental Health Week is an important time to think about how we can look after our own mental health and that of those around us by being stronger together.

The Tasmanian Government has doubled its support of the Mental Health Council’s Mental Health Week Grants program, with more than 60 events being held right around the state.

Improving our mental health services is a key priority for the Hodgman Liberal Government.

That’s why we are getting on with the job of delivering our $95 million mental health plan, which will provide 25 new community-based mental health beds and new adolescent mental health facilities for the first time ever in Tasmania – at the LGH and RHH.

We are also providing a $3.3 million boost to the community sector to support better health in our communities.

The Government has a long-term Rethink Mental Health plan, which has unanimous support and is being implemented now.

We know there is currently demand pressure on mental health services, but we are working to boost services and ensure mental health care can be provided in the right place at the right time.

Good mental health is absolutely crucial for Tasmanians to live their best lives, so I congratulate and thank the Mental Health Council of Tasmania for organising another outstanding Mental Health Week in 2018.
