Merck Encourages Women to Pursue Science Careers

  • Sydney, Australia March 8, 2019 – Merck, a leading science and technology company, today celebrated International Women's Day and reaffirmed the company's support for initiatives to increase the numbers of women working in the fields of science and technology.
    Merck employees will be attending the AUSBIO Women in Life Sciences Luncheon in Sydney, an International Women's Day event which aims to encourage women to pursue careers in science and bring gender equality to the sector.

    Healthy Women, Healthy Economies initiative
    Merck Australia looks beyond our shores to help unleash the economic power of women in under-developed countries through the Healthy Women, Healthy Economies initiative. Established in 2015 within the Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the initiative brings governments, employers and other interested stakeholders together to help to improve women's health, workforce participation and prosperity.
    In Australia Merck employs more than 160 women across its life science, performance materials and healthcare divisions.
