Metro Driving Female Recruitment

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Government has thrown its support behind Metro's latest recruitment campaign.

Women currently make up around 9 per cent of Metro's bus driver workforce and Metro is looking to take practical steps to increase female participation in the workforce.

Minister for Transport, Kerry Vincent, said driver recruitment was a high priority.

"Tasmanians have told us with their feet that they love free public transport," Minister Vincent said.

"Driving this recruitment campaign to increase female driver participation is a great initiative from Metro.

"Metro has listened to the women already behind the wheel, using their experiences to shape the campaign and support new recruits."

Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future we're continuing to look at ways we can boost frontline services.

"We're a big supporter of increasing female participation in the workforce as a whole, and I commend Metro for their efforts," Minister Vincent said.

"This will ensure more reliable service delivery as Tasmanians take full advantage of free public transport."
