Michael Coutts-Trotter named NSW Treasury Secretary

Treasurer Daniel Mookhey has today announced Michael Coutts-Trotter as the Secretary of NSW Treasury.

Mr Coutts-Trotter had been acting in the role for the past month.

He was first appointed to head a NSW Government department in 2004 and has since led 7 agencies, including the Departments of Premier and Cabinet, Family and Community Services, Education and Finance and Services.

Prior to joining the public service, Mr Coutts-Trotter was the long-term chief of staff to NSW Treasurer Michael Egan.

Treasurer Daniel Mookhey said:

"I am delighted to announce Mr Coutts-Trotter to the role of treasury secretary permanently.

"I was hoping he would stay and I am extremely glad he has decided to do so.

"He brings an unparalleled understanding of the NSW Public Service. His intellect, leadership and experience will be invaluable to myself and the NSW Government as we manage the fiscal and economic challenges ahead of us.

"He has a deep understanding of the treasury portfolio, and it is exciting to have him at the helm ahead of the agency's 200th anniversary celebrations next year."
