Mid-range PCA charge after crash - South Penrith

A man has been charged with drink-driving after a crash in South Penrith overnight that's left a young woman suffering serious injuries.

About 11.15pm (Wednesday 23 July 2020), a collision occurred between a Mitsubishi Lancer and a Holden Commodore at the intersection of The Northern Road and Maxwell Street at South Penrith.

The 22-year-old woman driving the Lancer suffered suspected hip and back injuries and was taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition.

The 23-year-old man driving the Commodore was not injured but returned a position roadside breath test.

He was arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station where he was subjected to a breath analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.144.

He has been charged with mid-range PCA and negligent driving, and his licence has been suspended.

He has been granted bail and is due to appear in Penrith Local Court on Tuesday 11 August 2020.

The circumstances of the crash are now being investigated by officers from Nepean Police Area Command.
