MidCoast Council's Roadworks & Infrastructure Update

MidCoast Council

MidCoast Council has a range of roadworks and maintenance projects across the region which are either underway or soon to begin.

This fortnightly update is a guide to when and where roadworks will occur. Roadwork schedules are subject to change due to contractor availability and weather conditions. There may be minor delays at most of these locations, but efforts are made to keep disruption to a minimum.

Road reconstruction is carried out when a road is no longer repairable. Reconstruction is the most significant investment for local government and is only done when other treatments are no longer effective. MidCoast Council's focus is on preventing roads from getting to this stage by acting earlier where possible. Over the next two weeks, road reconstruction is scheduled for Kolinda Drive, Old Bar; Bushland Drive, Taree from Lawson Crescent to North Street; and The Bucketts Way Krambach. Other construction work includes Bayview Crescent; High Street Cundletown; Upper Myall Road; Marine Drive Rockwall; Diamond Road and Redhead Road intersection; and footpath construction at Blackhead Road.

Ongoing disaster recovery work is taking place across the MidCoast. Over the fortnight you may see crews working on Thunderbolts Way, Leslie's Bridge Northern abutment; Thunderbolts Way landslip repairs north of Giro; Belbora Creek Road; Bindera; Berrico Creek; Barrington East – road drainage; Oxley Island – road drainage; Mount Coxcombe; Middlebrook Road; Pipeclay Creek; Hogans Road; Barbies Road; Myall Street; Clarke Street, Pindimar; Pindimar Road.

Pothole patching is scheduled for Comboyne Road; Bootawa Road; Wherrol Flat; Nowendoc Road; Hannam Vale; various sites across Gloucester, including The Bucketts Way and Thunderbolts Way; Scone Road; Wallanbah Road; Stroud Hill Road. Pothole patching is a temporary solution to keep the road as smooth as possible until more permanent solutions can be done.

Roadside vegetation management is planned for the Elands area and The Bucketts Way. Vegetation management has been made significantly harder due to the multiple extreme weather events this year. Crews manage roadside vegetation through spraying, trimming, mowing, and slashing. Given the current challenges, the focus is on safety rather than beautification, with works aimed at improving visibility around corners, intersections, and signs, reducing fire risk, and helping drivers see hazards more clearly.

Maintenance grading on unsealed roads is planned for Doyles River Road; Beech Road; the Hannam Vale area; Waitui Road; Dargavilles Road; Germany Lane; School Lane; Curreeki Creek; Greens Crossing Road; Thompsons Lane; Simmsville Road; Gunns Gully Road; Ebsworth Road; Julia Road; and various locations in the vicinity of Tallwoods and Lakes Way North. Council grades gravel roads to make them smoother and safer to drive on. Grading removes ruts and potholes and is an essential part of looking after our unsealed road network.
