MidCoast Honors Volunteers in National Week

MidCoast Council

MidCoast Council is proudly celebrating National Volunteers Week from 19 to 25 May, recognising the incredible contribution volunteers make to communities across the region.

From supporting local libraries and community facilities to caring for the natural environment through Landcare and Dunecare groups, volunteers play a vital role in helping to deliver Council services.

While Council is hosting thank you lunch events across the region to acknowledge and celebrate volunteers who generously give their time, skills and energy to help deliver Council services, we'd like to acknowledge the selfless contribution of the many other volunteers who assist the community in other ways.

Manager Libraries, Community and Cultural Services Alex Mills said volunteers are at the heart of many community services and initiatives across the MidCoast.

"MidCoast Council is incredibly fortunate to have such a large and dedicated volunteer base supporting our communities," said Mr Mills.

"Our volunteers make a meaningful difference every day. Whether they are helping in libraries, supporting community spaces, assisting at local events or caring for our natural environment, their contribution helps keep many valued services and facilities running smoothly. "

"National Volunteers Week is an opportunity to celebrate the people who give so generously of their time and to thank them for the positive impact they have across the MidCoast region."

Mr Mills said the volunteer thank you lunches were a small gesture of appreciation for the commitment and enthusiasm volunteers bring to helping to deliver Council services to the community.

"These events are a chance for Council to personally thank our Council volunteers and recognise the important role they play in building connected, resilient and vibrant communities," he said. "However there are many volunteers doing other incredible work in the community and we acknowledge their contributions too."

MidCoast Council extends its sincere thanks to all volunteers for their ongoing dedication and contribution to the region.
