Find out where construction, flood recovery works, pothole patching and maintenance grading is taking place across the MidCoast.
This fortnightly update is a guide to MidCoast Council roadworks and maintenance projects that are ongoing or will take place over the next two weeks.
The works schedule can change and is dependent on weather conditions. Drivers may experience minor traffic delays at some of these locations.
Construction or reconstruction projects are being carried out at Kolinda Drive, Old Bar; Bushland Drive, Taree – Lawson Crescent to North Street; The Bucketts Way, Krambach; Upper Myall Road; Diamond Beach Road / Redhead Road roundabout. Bowman Farm Road is scheduled for road rehabilitation; and gravel resheeting is taking place on Monkerai Road. Asphalting is scheduled for Short Street, Forster and Taree Street, Tuncurry; and drainage improvements will be undertaken in the Smiths Lakes area. Reconstruction is Council's most significant investment in a road and is only done when other treatments are no longer effective. The aim is to avoid roads getting to this stage by acting earlier where possible. Road rehabilitation is used for roads that are wearing out but not yet beyond repair. This strengthens the road structure and extends its life. It's a smarter, more cost-effective alternative to full reconstruction and helps maintain a more reliable network over time.
Flood recovery work is either planned or underway for the following locations: Thunderbolts Way Leslie's Bridge Northern abutment; Thunderbolts Way north of Giro – landslip repairs; Canningtons Road; Testorellis Road; Barrington East Road; Berrico Creek Road Bridge; Wilsons Bridge; Cundle Flat Road; Thunderbolts Way near Barrington; Oakey Creek Road causeway; Giro Road; drainage works on Beauly Road; The Bucketts Way; and Tallowwood Lane; and heavy patching on Booral Road.
Pothole patching, which is a temporary repair, is scheduled for Comboyne Road; Nowendoc Road; Bullocky Way; The Lakes Way; The Bucketts Way; sites in Hannam Vale; Stewarts River; Taree; Gloucester; and urban streets in Diamond Beach; Green Point; Forster; and Hawks Nest.
Maintenance grading on unsealed roads is scheduled for Kippax Road; Bobin Creek Road; Kings Creek Road; Bidners Lane; Jerusalem Road; Crosses Lane; Comboyne Road; Herivels Road; Greens Road; Pit Wharf Road; Monkerai Road; and Shallow Bay Road.
