Congratulations to the staff of the South East Employment Hub for their efforts in helping 105 people find local employment over the past four months.
In total, more than 250 people have now been placed in employment since the Hub began operating in July 2019, with a quarter of those in full-time positions.
Funded by the Tasmanian Government, with $950,000 allocated in the 2020-21 State Budget plus $60,000 to extend the Regional Transport Trial, the Hub offers an employment program that provides a localised, personal approach to assisting individuals to attain employment with a focus on linking local people to local jobs.
Working with the South East Region Workforce Engagement and Development Officer and the South East Trade Training Centre the Hub not only assists first time job seekers, but also people seeking a change of career or wanting employment close to home.
Learnings from this successful model are now being applied in planning for future employment hubs across the State, which will prove vital as Tasmanian recovers and rebuilds from COVID-19.
"I want to acknowledge the strong local leadership, from both the South East community and industry, which has been instrumental in the success achieved so far," Minister for Strategic Growth Sarah Courtney said.
"I am proud to have been a champion of the Hub and have witnessed first-hand how local job seekers in the region have benefited from it by finding gainful employment and contributing to the local economy and community," Liberal Member for Prosser Jane Howlett said.
