The State Taxation Acts Further Amendment Bill debated in parliament will immediately double the cost of registering a racing greyhound.
Given about 15,000 racing greyhounds are registered, the total added cost will be an additional $52,000 annually and more than $100,000 per annum in total.
GRV is already under financial stress, yet Mr Carbines is doing nothing to stand against this hidden financial impost, last night voting in favour of the increases.
It is no secret all three racing codes are facing challenging times, with GRV putting off 25 staff last year, around 15 per cent of its workforce.
Shadow Racing Minister Tim Bull said the Minister only stood up when it suited his commentary.
"The industry is a great one and worth more than $400m to the Victorian economy and the Minister must stand up and fight for it all the time, not just when it suits him," Mr Bull said.
"Instead, he is standing by silently and nowhere to be seen as GRV is slugged with what is effectively a new tax. When it comes to industry support he runs with the foxes and hunts with the hounds.
"This increase means GRV will either have to absorb the costs or pass them on to participants.
"People within the industry have said to me they'd be happy to have an incremental increase, but not an immediate doubling.
"Do you support this untimely, instant doubling Minister? If so, come into the chamber and tell us."
