Minister Anand and General Eyre visit CAF members and Allied participants of Exercise MAPLE RESOLVE 22

National Defence

Today, the Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of National Defence; and Chief of the Defence Staff, General Wayne Eyre, visited 3rd Canadian Division Support Base Detachment Wainwright and met with CAF and Allied armed forces members who are participating in Exercise MAPLE RESOLVE 22 (Ex MR 22).

The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) are engaged around the world in a number of military operations. Ranging from humanitarian assistance and disaster response to peacekeeping, CAF members ensure the safety of Canada and North America and support our partners and NATO Allies.

The CAF is committed to ensuring our members are always operationally ready and are interoperable with our partners and Allies. To this end, Ex MR 22, which is taking place from May 10 to 22, is the largest army-led joint force-on-force exercise of the year, which includes participation from the Royal Canadian Air Force, and our U.S. and British Allies.

Ex MR 22 validates the skills of Canadian Army deployable forces for contingency operations and tests the ability to integrate joint capabilities with multi-national forces. This exercise provides a unique opportunity to validate combat readiness and to support the Canadian Army's operational commitments, and Strong, Secure, Engaged: Canada's defence policy.
