She is a member of the Australian World Heritage Advisory Committee and previously served as a Deputy Chair and member of the Biosecurity Council of Western Australia, and a member of the Conservation and Parks Commission.

Dr Flugge replaces member and former Deputy Chair Lee McIntosh, who ended her term in November 2025.

As stated by the Environment Minister Matthew Swinbourn:

"Dr Flugge's diverse experience will be a tremendous asset to the EPA.

"Having nine members on the EPA limits the extent of conflicts during decision-making, thereby reducing approvals delays, while preserving the EPA's independence and the nature of advice it provides to government.

"I look forward to seeing the valuable contribution Dr Flugge makes to our State's environment as a member of the EPA."
