From: Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, today issued the following statement:

"March 10 marks the first anniversary of the Ethiopian Airlines flight ET302 fatal plane crash near Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, that claimed the lives of 157 people, including 18 Canadians.

"On this solemn day, we will join the international community in mourning the loss of all those who died in the crash and offer our sincerest condolences to those who lost loved ones.

"Among the Canadians who lost their lives, there were teachers, students, volunteers, activists, environmentalists, professionals and scientists. Let us take this opportunity to reflect on each of them and the contributions they made over the course of their lives.

"On behalf of the Government of Canada, we offer our heartfelt sympathies to the families and friends of the victims."
