Today, the Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade, met with Budi Santoso, Indonesia's Minister of Trade, in Ottawa.
The two ministers spoke about the significant milestone that the Canada-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) is in Canada and Indonesia's bilateral relationship, before later signing the agreement in Ottawa. The CEPA is an ambitious agreement that will eliminate or reduce tariff and non-tariff barriers. This will create a more transparent and predictable environment for trade and investment, leading to new opportunities for Canadians. Indonesia is the world's fourth most populous country, the largest economy in Southeast Asia, and projected to become the world's fifth largest economy.
