Today, the Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade, spoke with Chris Bryant, Minister of State (Minister for Trade) of the United Kingdom.
Minister Sidhu and Minister Bryant discussed progress under the Canada-United Kingdom Economic and Trade Working Group. They both agreed to continue regular discussions in areas of shared priority, including defence and economic security, digital trade and critical minerals.
The ministers also committed to working together to ensure that businesses in both countries continue to take advantage of the Canada-United Kingdom Trade Continuity Agreement.
Following Prime Minister Mark Carney's call with the United Kingdom's Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer on February 16, both ministers noted the ongoing efforts to advance engagement between the European Union and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
