Yesterday, the Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade, met virtually with Maria Cristina Aldeguer-Roque, Secretary of Trade and Industry of the Philippines.
During the call, Minister Sidhu thanked Secretary Roque for her support in advancing negotiations toward an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-Canada free trade agreement (FTA), with the goal of concluding negotiations in 2026.
They also discussed progress on Canada-Philippines FTA negotiations, with a view to concluding negotiations this year, to strengthen trade and investment between the two countries.
Minister Sidhu said that he looks forward to meeting with Secretary Roque and other ASEAN partners at the ASEAN Economic Ministers' Meeting in Manila later this month.
