Minister thanks out-going Powerlink Chief

Energy Minister Dr Anthony Lynham today thanked Merryn York for her contribution to Queensland's energy industry after eight years as Powerlink chief executive.

"Ms York has made a significant contribution to the energy industry in Queensland and the wider National Electricity Market,'' Dr Lynham said.

"Starting as a graduate development engineer, she continued to build her technical skills, expertise and business knowledge across a long and successful career, including eight years at the helm of Powerlink.

"Her insights and experience as an industry expert, has been invaluable to the Queensland Government and to me personally as Energy Minister.

"I wish her the very best in the next stage of her career.''

Ms York finished at Powerlink today and will be taking up a position as Commissioner at the Australian Energy Market (AEMC).

Powerlink executive manager strategy and business Kevin Kehl will be interim chief executive.
