A man had his car impounded after allegedly running a red arrow and providing false details to police in Epping this morning.
Fawkner Highway Patrol officers observed the vehicle on Cooper Street going through a red arrow onto the Hume Freeway just before 2am.
The vehicle was intercepted on O'Herns Road and officers spoke to the driver, who allegedly provided false details.
Further checks determined the correct details of the driver and it was established that he was unlicensed.
Additionally, the driver allegedly returned a positive oral fluid test.
Police impounded the vehicle at a cost of $928 and the 37-year-old Braybrook man is expected to be charged on summons.
This impound forms part of Operation Nexus, a statewide road policing operation conducted over the Easter long weekend.
Police will be highly visible and enforcing on Victorian roads in an effort to reduce road trauma, targeting speed, impaired driving, fatigue and distraction offences.
The operation commenced on Thursday 2 April and runs until 11:59pm on Monday 6 April 2026.
