Late yesterday afternoon police responded to a call for assistance from a group of 4 disoriented bushwalkers on the top of Tarn Shelf, Mt Field National Park.
Communication was unable to be maintained with the group and the Wespac Rescue Helicopter attended the area and began an aerial search. A sighting of the group is believed to have been made however due to the conditions and terrain, further assistance could not be provided at that time. A search and rescue ground crew was then deployed to search the area. To this point the group have not been located.
Further searching will commence this morning.
