Police are urgently seeking information regarding Paul Chalk missing from his Hervey Range home.
Mr Chalk, 64, was last heard from around 7.45pm last night and is believed to be in bushland, perhaps in the Townsville Town Common.
A forward command post was set up last night and an initial search in the rural area off Old Common Road was conducted, but without success.
A land search operation recommenced at 6.30am with multiple crews searching the area on foot.
Mr Chalk is described as Caucasian in appearance, around 180 centimetres tall with blue eyes, grey hair and a grey beard.
If anyone sees Mr Chalk, they are not to approach him but to contact Triple Zero immediately.
Anyone with information about Mr Chalk or his whereabouts is also urged to contact police.
