Missing man located at Lake Illawarra

Police have located a man who was reported missing from Warilla on Monday.

The 63-year-old left his home on Day Street, Warilla, just after 5pm on Monday 14 February 2022.

He was seen at the Warilla cricket fields soon after, before being seen walking along Sandpiper Close at 8.15pm.

He was reported missing, and officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District commenced inquiries to locate him.

Following extensive searches and a public appeal for information – including a geo-targeting message – the man was seen near Warilla Grove Shopping Centre on Shellharbour Road, about 7am yesterday (Tuesday 15 February 2022).

Then, about 9.30am today (Wednesday 16 February 2022), the man was located near Albion Park Airport by a member of the public walking her dog.

He was assessed at the scene for exposure and was taken to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition.

Police would like to thank the public and media for their assistance.
