A 20-year-old Capalaba man remains missing after getting into difficulty while swimming at Shelley Beach, Caloundra yesterday.
Preliminary enquiries indicate the man was swimming with a 20-year-old Ferny Hills man when they got into difficulties at around 3.15pm.
Three members of the public attempted to rescue the two men and were able to pull one of them to safety.
An extensive air and sea search, coordinated by police and including Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) and the Coast Guard, was conducted for the missing 20-year-old.
The search continues today with the Water Police, SLSQ and Police Dive Squad.
