Missing yacht and skipper located near Shoalhaven

NSW Water Police have located a missing yacht and skipper, after it was reported missing during a journey from Wollongong to Sydney Harbour this morning, NSW police said.

Just after 7am Monday, emergency services received a call from a 44-year-old man on a blue and white 32ft yacht, stating the rudder on the vessel had broken.

Officers attached to Marine Area Command, with the assistance of Australian Maritime Safety Authorities, and other marine rescue services, commenced a search for the yacht between Botany Bay and Jervis Bay.

About 2pm, the vessel was located by Port Kembla Water Police about 25nm east of Shoalhaven on the NSW south coast.

The vessel is currently being towed to Jervis Bay.

The skipper was not injured during the incident.
