The contents of the Baby Bundle, which is part of the NSW Government’s $157 million parenting package, were recently announced at an event at Royal North Shore Hospital.
Health Minister Brad Hazzard said the Baby Bundle, valued at $300, is filled with educational resources and baby products to help parents.
"The NSW Liberal & Nationals government is delivering on its promise to support families with a bag of practical essentials to help take care of their precious babies," Mr Hazzard said.
"And if you’re a NSW resident planning on having a baby at a hospital over the border or your new bub arrives unexpectedly when you’re interstate or travelling overseas, don’t worry – we will have a Baby Bundle waiting for you.
"If you live in Albury but you’re having your baby in Wodonga, if you’re from Queanbeyan and you choose to have your baby in Canberra, if you live in Broken Hill but your baby is born over in South Australia or if you’re based in the Tweed but you’re heading up to the Gold Coast to give birth, you’ll still be eligible."
The contents of the Baby Bundle, which all meet Australian safety standards, include a sleeping bag, play and change mats, muslin wrap, bath and room thermometers, baby toothbrush, breast pads, first aid kit, board books, face cloth, baby wipes, hand sanitiser and barrier cream.
It also contains important health information on child development and parental wellbeing, which all new NSW parents and caregivers will benefit from.
From 1 January 2019, parents and caregivers of newborns with a current NSW home address, can easily request a Baby Bundle via email (MOH- [email protected]) and a package will be delivered, free of charge.
