Mobile pink slip trial expansion benefits regional NSW

From December 2019, five regions including Wagga Wagga, Tamworth, Port Macquarie, Blue Mountains and the Southern Highlands will benefit from an expanded mobile pink slip trial, which will allow people to get a pink slip at a time and place that suits them.

Customers can take part in this initiative by making direct contact with a participating authorised pink slip provider.

Customers and providers can then agree on a call-out fee, time and safe location for the inspection.

Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said the rollout of this trial is a win for regional communities.

"We know this option appeals to many younger motorists and families, with the ability to save time and get an inspection done at home or at work the big drawcards," Mr Toole said.

"And better yet, the fee for the pink slip itself is a fixed amount, equivalent to what a customer visiting an authorised mechanic pays."

The mobile pink slip initiative follows the trial's success in Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong and the Central Coast when it started in April last year, with 4297 mobile pink slip services completed in the first 16 months.
