Modbury man charged with further robberies, South Australia

Eastern Adelaide Detectives have arrested and charged a Modbury man with a further two robberies involving elderly people in the Modbury in recent weeks.

The man was arrested on Monday 11 March and charged with an alleged attempt aggravated robbery at a Smart Road ATM on 8 March.

Following further police enquiries the same man has been charged with an aggravated robbery which allegedly occurred on 25 February this year, plus an alleged aggravated theft from on Sunday 10 March.

Police will allege, on 25 February an 82-year-old man was sitting in his car on North East Road Modbury South, when the man approached him and demanded his wallet. When the victim refused the man opened the car door and tried to grab the man's wallet before taking the car key and running away.

On Sunday 10 March a 73-year-old woman was sitting in her car at Modbury, when the man reached inside and grabbed the woman's handbag which contained a quantity of jewellery. The woman was not physically injured in the incident.

The 39-year-old man from Modbury aggravated robbery and aggravated theft he will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.
