Modernising delivery of business advice

Madeleine Ogilvie, Minister for Small Business

The Rockliff Liberal Government's strong support for Tasmanian businesses through free independent business advice is taking a major step forward, with the announcement of qualified and experienced local providers under two new programs.

Minister for Small Business, Madeleine Ogilvie, said the Tasmanian Business Advice Service and the New Business Support Pilot Program would supersede the current Enterprise Centres Tasmania program from 2 October 2023, taking the advisory service in a modern direction.

"Enterprise Centres Tasmania supported Tasmanian businesses over the last 30 years, but our refreshed business advice offerings better match the experience and needs of modern businesses," she said.

"Established businesses will be able to access up to five hours of free advice under the Generalist Business Advisor Program, and the New Business Support Pilot Program will provide business intenders and early-stage businesses with up to two hours of free advice."

Three organisations have been successful in their applications to provide advice under the Generalist Business Advisor Program and five under the New Business Support Pilot Program.

All applicants for the grant programs that will fund these services went through a rigorous assessment process to ensure they had the capability and skills to provide a high standard of business advice.

"The appointment of these providers will ensure our businesses receive modern and tailored business advice regardless of where they are in their journey, or their location," Minister Ogilvie said.
