Moira Shire Council has received the Supporting Young People 2025 award from Goulburn Murray LLEN (Local Learning & Employment Network) for its participation in the School to Work Program.

The award acknowledges organisations that consistently support local students through the School to Work Program, which connects secondary school students with local employers, industry and community organisations to explore career pathways and develop real-world skills.

Throughout 2025, Council has played an active role in the program by hosting 11 work experience students, attending Careers Day Out Shepparton and providing guest speakers in local schools.

Moira Shire Council CEO Matthew Morgan said Council was honoured to win the award and pleased to be part of the School to Work Program.

"Providing students with an insight into careers within local government can help them better understand the employment pathways available in their own community," Mr Morgan said.

"Encouraging young people to live and work in our communities when they leave school or complete further education is important to the future growth and prosperity of Moira Shire.

"GMLLEN does a terrific job working with schools and employers support students to transition successfully from education into further training, apprenticeships or employment."

GMLLEN commended Council for the range of opportunities it offered students across the year.

"This work requires time, dedication and collaboration, and we are deeply appreciative of their commitment to supporting young people and strengthening pathways within our community," GMLLEN said.
