Detectives from the Organised Crime Gangs Group have charged a 26-year-old man in relation to a violent disturbance at a Canungra food store last month.

On February 23, two men attended a food store and threatened and assaulted a random group of men. It is alleged one of the men was armed with a machete and wearing clothing identifying him as a member of the Mongrel Mob.

As a result of ongoing investigations, detectives from Taskforce Maxima executed a search warrant at a Beaudesert address yesterday (March 17), locating Mongrel Mob clothing.

A 26-year-old man has been charged with going armed in public to cause fear and possessing prohibited items. He has been bailed to appear in the Beaudesert Magistrates Court on April 30, 2021.

Investigations are continuing in relation to the second man.
