More And More Victorians Pick Reason To Get Vaccinated

VIC Premier

With enormous demand for COVID-19 vaccine appointments across the state, the Victorian Government will continue to make it easier for Victorians to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Every Victorian has a reason to get vaccinated, so on top of more than 200,000 appointments announced last week, the Government will add 84,000 new appointments for both Pfizer and AstraZeneca, giving Victorians more options to get vaccinated sooner.

From tomorrow, people aged 18-39 will be able to get the AstraZeneca vaccine at any state-run vaccination centre in Victoria. This follows a successful trial at nine vaccination sites, which saw more than 22,000 Victorians aged 18-39 vaccinated with AstraZeneca in five days.

Tens of thousands of Victorians booked in to get vaccinated in the days after the Victorian Government set a target to administer 1 million doses in the next five weeks.

In the 24 hours following Friday's announcement, more than 68,000 Victorians booked in to get vaccinated at our state-run vaccination hubs.

In the coming days, the Government will announce the locations of three new drive through vaccinate sites in Wyndham, Melbourne's South East and in the Hume/Whittlesea area.

Increasing our vaccination coverage in Victoria is particularly important given the current coronavirus outbreaks and the potential for further interstate incursions this year.

All Victorians are encouraged where possible to book their vaccination appointment by visiting portal.cvms.vic.gov.au or by phoning the Coronavirus hotline on 1800 675 398.

Visit coronavirus.vic.gov.au/vaccination-centres for more information on Victoria's vaccination centres, including locations and opening hours.

As stated by Premier Daniel Andrews

"Victorians know there are a million reasons to get vaccinated - and they're turning out in huge numbers to get it done as soon as they can."

"We're making it even easier for Victorians to reach that goal of one million vaccine doses with more vaccination centres, more booths and more bookings in the system for AstraZeneca."

As stated by Minister for Health Martin Foley

"Every Victorian knows way out of this pandemic is getting vaccinated. Whether we're doing it to protect ourselves, our loved ones or with the ambition to go to the footy - Victorians are declaring their reasons to get vaccinated in huge numbers."
