The Allan Labor Government is improving access to public transport in Melbourne's North, thanks to 140 extra services on a vital local bus route connecting locals with stations on the Metro and V/Line networks.
Minister for Public and Active Transport Gabrielle Williams today announced Route 390 Mernda Station - Craigieburn Station via Wollert services will run more frequently on weekdays and Saturdays, and later into the evening, giving more options to access work, school or connect with trains.
The improvements will extend weekday services until midnight and will run every 20 minutes on average between 6:00am and 7:00pm - connecting passengers to the Mernda or Craigieburn lines on the Metro train network, or V/Line services on the Seymour or Shepparton lines that stop at Craigieburn Station.
Saturday services will also be extended two hours later until midnight giving more opportunities to get home from a night out in the city or enjoying the footy - while the route will continue to operate from 7:30am until 10:00pm on Sundays.
The new timetable will continue to provide students access to Gilson College (Mernda Campus), Mernda Central P-12 College and Wollert Secondary College, ensuring local students have safe and reliable public transport between home and school.
The new services were funded through the Labor Government's Growth Area Infrastructure Contribution (GAIC), delivering better access to bus services across growing communities in Melbourne.
Since launching Victoria's Bus Plan, more than 117 local bus networks have been upgraded, giving Victorian communities access to more than 7,200 extra services each week.
Timetables and more information on the extended bus routes are available at ptv.vic.gov.au, the PTV app or by calling 1800 800 007.
