More Charges Following Orange Break-Ins: Op Soteria

A second teenager has been charged following multiple break, enter and steal incidents in the state's Central Tablelands region last month.

About 7.45am on Thursday 19 February 2026, officers attached to Central West Police District received reports of an alleged break and enter incident at a home on Sampson Street, Orange.

Police arrived and were told that between 7.45pm on Wednesday 18 February 2026, and the time of reporting, a Volvo SUV had been stolen from the driveway of the home.

No injuries were reported.

Following inquiries, about 4pm Thursday 19 February 2026, police located the vehicle in Rosedale Place, Orange.

A second break and enter incident took place between 12am and 3am yesterday (Thursday 26 February 2026) at a home on Sophie Drive, Orange, where an MG hatchback and a Subaru station wagon were allegedly stolen.

About 3.15am the same day (Thursday 26 February 2026), police located both vehicles on Icely Road, Orange.

The MG allegedly accelerated away from officers, and a pursuit was initiated, however was terminated shortly after for safety reasons.

About 6.20am the same day, the MG was located at Davidson Court, Orange, and was seized for forensic examination, with the Subaru also being located and seized on Friday 27 February 2026.

About 9.20am today (Friday 6 March 2026), police attended a residence on Bletchington Street, Orange, where they arrested a 15-year-old boy. He was taken to Orange Police Station where he was charged with five offences - aggravated break, enter and steal in company, three counts of be carried in conveyance without consent of owner and commit S154A offence and disseminate (post and boast).

He was refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Friday 6 March 2026).

This follows the arrest of a second 15-year-old boy at about 10.25am on Thursday 26 February 2026, when police executed a search warrant at a home on Adina Crescent, Orange.

He was taken to Orange Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated break and enter in company, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

He was refused bail and appeared before a children's court Friday 27 February 2026, where he was granted conditional bail to face a children's court on Monday 9 March 2026.

Investigations under Operation Soteria continue.
