More charges made by Strike Force Worra, NSW

Police have arrested and charged a further 11 people over alleged drug supply in the Lake Illawarra region, NSW Police say.

In October 2016, officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command and Wollongong Local Area Command formed Strike Force Worra to investigate the supply of illicit drugs.

As a result of Strike Force inquiries, on Wednesday 15 March 2017, about 100 police from Lake Illawarra, Wollongong, Shoalhaven, Far South Coast, and The Hume Local Area Command executed eight search warrants in Port Kembla, Unanderra Warrawong, Cringila, Warilla and Corrimal.

As a result numerous people were arrested and charged.

This week saw Strike Force detectives arrest and charge a further 11 people in relation to drug supply matters.

The 11 people were charged with a total of 19 charges relating to the supply of prohibited drugs.

The total number of persons charged under Strike Force Worra to date is 54.

Inquiries by Strike Force Worra are continuing and further arrests are likely.
