Free mulch scheme re-opened for the dry season
Available for the next two weekends at the Hidden Valley Waste Management Facility
Another example of the Finocchiaro CLP Government easing cost-of-living pressures
Territorians will have another chance to collect free post-cyclone mulch from Hidden Valley thanks to the Finocchiaro CLP Government.
The free mulch giveaway returns this weekend, May 16 and 17, and next weekend, May 23 and 24, at the Hidden Valley Waste Management Facility from 8am to 4pm.
Residents with any light vehicles, such as utes and trailers and small rigid trucks are welcome. A contractor will be on-site with suitable loaders to load both trucks and trailers.
Minister for Logistics and Infrastructure, Bill Yan, said there was plenty of mulch left.
"I encourage everybody to load up their cars, trailers and light trucks with mulch and come back for more if needed," he said.
"With a decent bag of mulch upwards of $15, this helps Territorians save money and get their gardens looking great for the dry season."
"This is another way the Finocchiaro CLP Government is helping with cost-of-living pressures."
"Just remember to bring a tarp and a vehicle that can handle the load in a safe manner."
The free collection is only for residents. Vehicles are only loaded where it is safe to do so. Commercial operators are welcome to contact the Department of Logistics and Infrastructure to arrange collection at another time.
Free mulch was first offered to residents between January 23 and February 15 this year after 60,000 tonnes of green waste were collected - most of which was turned into mulch at the facility following Cyclone Fina.
