The Allan Labor Government is backing more specialised, lifesaving care for Victorians when they need it most.
The Minister for Health today met the first cohort of new Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) intern paramedics for 2026 - who will soon hit the road across Victoria.
As experienced Advanced Life Support (ALS) paramedics with two years of full time on road experience, the group of 24 interns will now start a six-week bridging program in their journey to become MICA paramedics.
The course covers clinical responses to respiratory, cardiac, paediatric and obstetrics incidents as well as sessions with specialists on welfare, wellbeing, pharmacy and leadership.
It helps develop their theoretical knowledge and practical skills, before they begin 18 months of on-road training alongside an experienced MICA paramedic.
