More Station Car Parks Open In West

VIC Premier

Train station car parks in Melbourne's booming western suburbs have received a major upgrade, with 400 new and upgraded spaces completed at Caroline Springs and 380 spaces soon to open at Wyndham Vale.

The new and upgraded car parks at Caroline Springs and Wyndham Vale stations being delivered by the Andrews Labor Government will provide more choice and make it safer and easier to catch the train.

The newly opened spaces at Caroline Springs Station more than doubles the car park capacity for commuters. At Wyndham Vale Station - one of Australia's fastest growing communities - 380 new and upgraded spaces will be fully ready to use next month, bumping up capacity by around 40 per cent for the 350,000 commuters using the station each year.

New bicycle parking facilities, improved lighting and CCTV will also be delivered as part of the project with additional landscaping to be provided across both sites.

The milestone coincides with the recent completion of 500 new and upgraded car spaces, new lighting and CCTV at Tarneit Station.

Capacity at Tarneit Station - the state's busiest V/Line station outside of Southern Cross - was bumped up approximately 50 per cent, bringing the total number of car spaces to more than 1,500 spots.

In further investment for Tarneit commuters, works have also now started on a new bus interchange and additional bicycle parking, making it even easier and safer to catch the train. These works are set for completion in late 2023.

The works are part of the Labor Government's Car Park for Commuters program, delivering new and upgraded car parks across the state. So far, the program has delivered 15,000 new and upgraded car parks across Victorian Stations to date, with an additional 6,000 to be delivered.
